California State Parks. Like Motel 6, with campfires

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Went to a California park this weekend.  It was $35 a night for a campsite.  You’re supposed to call an 800 number, 2 days in advance, to reserve a space.  You get to pay a 7.50 fee when you reserve.  So it’s 42.50 for the first night.  The Motel 6 10 miles back on the main highway was only 44 a night.  Yeah, it’s a park.  Yeah, we got to camp.

But watching the poor park ranger do the campsite tour every afternoon, collecting rent, was so sad…

Silisec at Faultline

Heh.  Got thrown out of Faultline once.  A senior high tech exec we were meeting with politely asked the waitress to switch his beer order (she got it wrong.)  Apparently that was grounds for the manager to bitch us out because we ‘stressed’ the waitress.  If you yell at my customer it tends not to make me want to buy beer at your dodgy bar, dude 😉

Coffee, worth the queue

Blue Bottle.  Three blocks from Moscone.  Totally worth it if you want decent coffee.
