hipsters at an English breakfast

Sunday, July 2nd, 2017

nice pub.  their own beer.  food, not bad.  “English Breakfast” on the menu.  “With ham”, it says.  And beans.  Proper shocking English high-cholesterol breakfast like you’d serve the yankee tourists.

Except it was 3 slices of bacon.  And some sort of dark colored mildly gelatenous substance that might have been some sort of hash.  If you squint and rub some playa dust on your face you could  sort of imagine some pub out in the countryside cooking up the rabbits the locals had caught in the forest that day you’d sorta get this substance.  To those at the table it looked a little sketch.

Beer Sighting: Drake’s Barrel House

Tucked in behind the Walmart and the Home Depot and the ghost of Sports Authority past, in San Leandro.  Food (via a decent colocated food truck-ish arrangement).

Livermore Beer Festival

3rd year.  Better and better every year.  Very nice bunch of brewer elves gathered in a setting that generates money for charity.  Not a competition, but certainly an opportunity for the beer merchants to show off their stuff.  Stymie & The Pimp Jones Luv Orchestra was awesome.  Smokin’ funk in the back yard of a Shriners in the very suburban part of the East Bay.  Only in California…

Silisec at Faultline

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Heh.  Got thrown out of Faultline once.  A senior high tech exec we were meeting with politely asked the waitress to switch his beer order (she got it wrong.)  Apparently that was grounds for the manager to bitch us out because we ‘stressed’ the waitress.  If you yell at my customer it tends not to make me want to buy beer at your dodgy bar, dude 😉
